Seoul has become one of the most requested business class destinations we book for Hawaii-based travelers, and the appeal is easy to understand. The city pairs a serious food and coffee culture with some of the best shopping in Asia, from Myeongdong's beauty halls to the design boutiques of Hongdae. History buffs get Gyeongbokgung Palace and the hanok villages of Bukchon, while a growing number of clients tack on a day trip to the DMZ or a few nights skiing at Yongpyong in winter. Seoul also works well as a launch point for Tokyo, Osaka, or Southeast Asia, so we see a fair number of multi-city itineraries built around it.

There's no nonstop from Maui, so every Maui to Seoul business class itinerary routes through a mainland gateway — Dallas, Charlotte, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, or Minneapolis, depending on which carrier has the best fare that week. The OGG-to-mainland segment is typically domestic first class, then you settle into the long-haul cabin for the roughly 13-hour crossing to ICN. Four airlines cover this corridor well. Hawaiian's First Class is a 2-2-2 lie-flat product with the island hospitality Hawaiian is known for, a nice touch if your trip starts and ends with that Hawaii feel. American's Flagship Business is a 1-2-1 lie-flat suite with Casper bedding and Flagship Lounge access at the connecting hub — a strong pick if you're routing through DFW or ORD. United's Polaris pods, also 1-2-1, come with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and Polaris Lounge access, and United's Chicago and Houston connections tend to have generous layover windows. Delta One Suites are the most private option, with a closing door and Tumi amenity kits, and they're a favorite among clients who want to work or sleep without any aisle interruption.

Our fares on this route run $2,144 to $4,644 round-trip, which usually lands 30-60% below what you'd find booking directly with the airline. Pricing swings with season more than most routes — January through March and October through December are consistently the best value windows, since summer and Korean holiday periods (Chuseok, Lunar New Year) push fares up sharply. If you have flexible dates, we can often find better business class availability by shifting a departure by just a few days, especially on the mainland connection where seat inventory is tighter than on the transpacific leg itself.

A few practical notes for this itinerary. Because you're connecting through a mainland hub, build in at least 90 minutes for domestic-to-international transfers, more if you're checking bags through on separate tickets — our Travel Managers always book this as one itinerary so bags and boarding passes carry through automatically. Westbound to Seoul, you'll cross the International Date Line and typically land in the evening local time two calendar days after departure, so a lie-flat seat on the long-haul leg matters more than it might on a shorter route — this is where the Delta and American suites earn their keep. On the return, eastbound flights arrive the same day you departed, which makes jet lag noticeably easier to manage than the outbound. If your schedule allows it, choose a connection with lounge access at the mainland hub rather than a tight 45-minute sprint between gates.
