Nairobi is also the diplomatic and business capital of East Africa, home to UN-Habitat and a growing tech scene, so a fair number of travelers on this route are heading in for work rather than wildlife.

There's no nonstop from Maui, obviously, and there isn't a nonstop US-to-Nairobi flight from any of the mainland hubs you'll connect through either.
